Our Family of Three

I was pleasantly surprised when Ben casually said "I really love having a dog", the other day. I wasn't surprised because Ben isn't a dog person, or because Brandi isn't enjoyable... it's just that I was definitely the one who had to persuade him we should get a dog, and not the other way around.

But it really did give my heart a little WarmFuzzy when he said that, because... I really love having a dog, too. I adore my husband- he's such a stud, and a huge help, and he spoils me with love. But surprisingly enough, adding a little puppy to our Duo makes it feel ...well, like a family, I guess!

It's been about 6 weeks since we first brought Brandi home, and man have we learned a lot. Whoever thinks having a puppy isn't preparation for parenting is whack. You deal with whining and crying, pooping and peeing, throw-up, potty-training and feeding and playing and sleepless nights... she really has turned into our little Baby.

That's not to say that we haven't coined her nickname "Demon"... because that certainly has happened.

But her cranky days aside, Brandi is a dang good dog. So far we have accomplished Sit, Shake, Lay Down, Stay, and we're working on Play Dead (complete with finger-gun 'POW POW' noises). She's completely house-trained (which only took about a week and half), and will even whine or bark when she wants to be let out. She deffffinitely knows the words "food" and "treat", so we have to be careful to spell them if we aren't planning on giving her some immediately...

Mainly... Brandi is hiiiighly intelligent and as adorable as ever. It doesn't matter that we're partial- it's just true :)

 Yes, she's asleep

I couldn't find her one day, until I looked at the base of our side-table...

What?? I wasn't doing anything...

And yes, she was sleeping just like that, but the flash woke her up.

Brandi doing her Tricks. (and the popping noise at the beginning is her chomping her teeth because she wants the treat... impatient little squirt)
